چکیده

Although the literature contains many refer ences to successful attempts to immunize animals against transplantable tumors, few deal with transplantable spontaneous tumors in inbred strains, and, in general, the results of these latter experiments have been negative. Aptekman and his co-workers (1-3), in a series of studies with an alcohol-soluble extract of methylcholanthrene-induced transplantable rat sarcoma, produced oncolysis of tumors that arose in rats of their own inbred strain. A greater per centage of the animals so treated were resistant to subsequent implants of these tumors. However, these investigators failed to induce resistance in a recognized pure strain of mice using a transplantable spontaneous tumor.1

Induced susceptibility and resistance to an indigenous transplantable mouse tumor with autolyzed and alcohol-killed tumor tissue.

In a previous paper (3) describing experiments in which DBA/1 female mice and the transplantable dbrB adenocarcinoma indigenous to that strain were used, it was demonstrated that the inoculation of living tumor cells resulted in a sub stantial increase in resistance to subsequent tumor implants. Under certain conditions the technic em ployed rendered the animals completely refractory to seconda...

Induced host resistance to a transplantable mouse glioma.

A transplantable methylcholanthrene-induced glioma has been carried by subcu taneous transplantation in inbred C57/6 mice and grows rapidly within 3-4 weeks in almost all recipients. Immunization with glioma-adjuvant mixture resulted in inhibi tion or "rejection" of 70 per cent of tumor implants given later, whereas immunization with spleen-adjuvant, brain-adjuvant mixtures, or adjuvant alone r...

Serological Studies of Transplantable Mouse Tumor 15091a *

Studies of the histology and growth characteristics of regressing transplantable tumor 15091a in mice suggested that regression followed the acquisition by the host of a specific immunological resistance against the graft.' To test this hypothesis serologically, two methods of approach have been employed. First, antibodies against tumor 15091a were sought in (a) mice in which the tumor had regr...

Induction of micronuclei in a transplantable murine tumor after multimodality treatment with cis-platin, radiation and hyperthermia

Background: Tumor response after multimodality treatment using combination of radiation, chemotherapeutic drugs and hyperthermia usually assessed by parameters such as tumor growth delay, volume doubling time and regression response. The study herein was conducted to investigate the usefulness of micronucleus assay for assessing the multimodality treatment. Materials and Methods: The ...

Estrogen receptor characterization in a transplantable mouse mammary tumor.

The estrogen receptor was characterized in a new transplantable mammary tumor line (MXT) which was induced by urethan treatment in C57BL x DBAf F, mice. The tumor is a ductal papillary carcinoma that is ovarian dependent. Treat ment of ovariectomized mice with estradiol benzoate results in rapid growth of the tumor. Cytoplasmic and nuclearbound estrogen receptors were measured by the charcoal a...
